I’m Matthew Mayo, a physiotherapy graduate of the University of Newcastle with a dedication to evidence-based, patient-centred care. My career began in community services, where I spent five years supporting NDIS participants with complex mental health needs achieve their goals.
During my physiotherapy studies, I gained valuable experience assisting in the rehabilitation of complex neurological patients across hospitals in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie region.
Clinically, I’m drawn to the assessment and diagnosis of acute trauma and have a passion for guiding patients through their rehabilitation journey after injury — helping them return to function, performance, and the sports they love. I am attuned to the psychosocial needs of my patients, thrive on problem-solving and find real reward in seeing people achieve their goals.
Outside of work, I’m all about the outdoors and chasing adrenaline. On weekends you’ll usually find me on a mountain bike, motocross track, surfboard or snowboard depending on the season. Adventure keeps me balanced, fuels my resilience, deepens my empathy for the recovery goals of my patients.
I’m excited to bring that same energy, commitment, and spirit of adventure to my practise in the beautiful Forster-Tuncurry region.
